THE RUNDOWN

  • Jennifer Lopez attended the Office Romance premiere in a vintage Versace gown.
  • The archival look came from the house’s 2004 couture collection.
  • A clever illusion detail tied the entire outfit together.

Jennifer Lopez revisited the Versace archives for her latest red carpet appearance.

The singer and actor attended the Los Angeles premiere of her new Netflix rom-com, Office Romance, in a vintage Atelier Versace gown from the house’s spring/summer 2004 couture collection. The strapless black dress featured a structured bodice with nude illusion panels, crystal-embellished bands across the bust, and intricate lace-like detailing through the torso.

The gown extended into a voluminous floor-length skirt with a dramatic train, giving the archival look a more theatrical finish.

Lopez styled it with Cartier jewelry, long, straight hair parted down the middle, smoky eye makeup, and a glossy nude lip.

The dress was sourced from LILY et Cie, the Los Angeles-based vintage fashion archive. Lopez was styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, with hair by Justine Marjan and makeup by Ernesto Casillas.

In Office Romance, Lopez stars opposite Brett Goldstein, who co-wrote the film specifically for her. In an interview with Extra, he said, “We wouldn’t have made it. It was me and [co-writer] Joe Kelly and we sent her the script with a letter that said, ‘You’re at the top of our list. It’s a list of one. If you say no, we’re not going to make this film. No pressure.’”

The appearance also continued Lopez’s long history with Versace. Her relationship with the house is most famously tied to the plunging green gown she wore to the 2000 Grammys.
