Brazil Congress approves reduced sentence for Bolsonaro

Brazil’s Congress on Thursday overturned President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s veto of a bill dramatically reducing the prison sentence of his far-right rival Jair Bolsonaro.

Former president Bolsonaro, 71, was sentenced last year to a 27-year term for coup plotting. Lula had attempted to block the conservative-majority Congress from reducing his term to a little over two years.
