Bulgari Presents Its Eclettica High Jewelry Collection
Dua Lipa, Anne Hathaway, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Jake Gyllenhaal were all on hand last night at Villa Arconati in Milan to celebrate the launch of Bulgari’s latest high jewelry collection, Eclettica. With more than 160 masterpieces on hand, the collection was filled with some of the world’s most precious gemstones and was inspired by three core tenets: sculpture, painting, and architecture. Each creation evoked the maison’s codes, from candy-colored cabochon-cut stones to snakes and ancient Roman coins.
While viewing this extensive collection earlier in the day at the modernist Villa Necchi Campiglio, I was able to see firsthand the craftsmanship, which has been dubbed “artsmanship” by creative director Lucia Silvestri. “The theme of this year’s High Jewelry collection immediately captivated me and sparked my creativity,” she says. “I have often sought to define Bulgari in just a few words, and ‘eclectic’ is undoubtedly one of them. For Bulgari, eclecticism is not a style or a movement—it is a method, deeply embedded in our essence.”
The vast collection included 50 millionaire jewels, 14 transformable pieces, and nine masterpieces under the name Capolavori. Among the countless pieces that caught my eye was the Secret Garden necklace, meant to represent Rome’s intimate courtyards at sunset. The center stone is an extremely rare 26.65-carat pink-orange Padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka, which served as the sole inspiration for this piece, and was surrounded by baguettes, round cuts, onyx inlays, purple sapphires, and cabochon emeralds.
Before the show and gala, the Eclettica collection was presented at Villa Necchi Campiglio alongside six marble and gold-leaf sculptures by Venetian artist Riccardo Gatti and an oil painting by Italian artist Beatrice Bonafini, offering artistic interpretations of the high jewelry theme.
