On February 28, Connor Storrie made his debut as the host of Saturday Night Live, and his friend and Heated Rivalry co-star made a surprise appearance. The actor opened the show with a monologue where he welcomed members of the Team USA men’s and women’s hockey teams, Jack and Quinn Hughes, Hilary Knight, and Megan Keller. After all, Storrie’s hit show is about hockey. And love!
After the Olympic gold medalists appeared, starting with Knight and Keller, they told Storrie, “Don’t worry, we saw your show.”
“Oh, wow. Hilary, Megan, it’s so cool that we’re all here,” Storrie replied.
Knight added, “It was gonna be just us, but we thought we’d invite the guys, too.”
The comment was an allusion to the infamous viral moment of Donald Trump telling the men’s hockey team that he would invite them to the White House.
Storrie’s role on Heated Rivalry was hinted at throughout the show, including a sketch with Williams. In the comedy skit, a couple suffers a failed proposal at Rockefeller Center, but there’s a bunch of guys enjoying the rink behind them, including Storrie and Williams on skates.
Later, Storrie showed off his Russian accent, which he uses for his character on Heated Rivalry as Ilya Rozanov. In this sketch, he plays a Russian stripper who is having a really rough night.
He also showed off his skills with an accent duel.
Williams made two other appearances, first helping Storrie introduce the night’s musical guest, Mumford & Sons. Later, they could be seen standing side-by-side at the end of the show, sharing an embrace.
On Heated Rivalry, Williams and Storrie play rival hockey players who engage in a secret love affair for over a decade. The popular show has skyrocketed both stars to fame in the past few months. In real life, the two are very close friends.
