Travis Kelce is opening up about his Italian getaway with fiancée Taylor Swift. Speaking with George Clooney on the December 3 episode of his New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs player shared details about the couple’s trip to Lake Como in May 2024, which coincided with a brief break in Swift’s Eras Tour schedule.
“Oh, yeah, me and Tay danced around Lake Como for a little while, man. I loved it out there,” Kelce said. He added that locals “love to” point out Clooney’s famed home on the lake. “It sits perfectly on that water, man. It’s a beautiful place and a beautiful area,” he told Clooney. “Everybody out there was so lovely, man.”
Kelce, who revealed that it was his first time in Italy, went on to describe the vacation. “Every morning, I was throwing my shoes on, running up and down the water,” he said. “And we had gloomy days. We had beautiful days. And it was just—every single day was just a new epic, like, realization, what’s really around the world. And I had never even imagined that place, you know, in my dreams.”
He continued, “There’s so many little spots that are just so fun to go to dinner too, man. It’s like you’re going to a place that has, like, 10 seats in a corner of a cove. And it’s just the best pasta you could ever imagine.”
According to a May 2024 report from People, Swift and Kelce enjoyed four days of relaxation, taking a late-night walk around the lake, going on a boat ride, and having dinner at the restaurant Locanda La Tirlindana.
Later in the conversation, Kelce asked Clooney—who famously said he’s never argued with his wife, Amal, in their decade together—if he’s lying about his conflict-free relationship. Clooney responded with a laugh, “No, I’m not lying, Travis. Shall we ask you the same questions?” The NFL star then revealed that he and Swift are on the same track. “Well, it’s only been two and a half years, and you’re right. I haven’t gotten into an argument. Never once,” Kelce said.
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on August 26, nearly two years after they began dating. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they captioned a joint Instagram post featuring photos together.
Shortly before their engagement, the “Opalite” singer appeared on New Heights and shared her favorite things about Kelce. She noted “the way he could make me laugh so immediately…Travis is just a vibe booster in everyone’s life he’s in. He’s a human exclamation point.” She added, “You’re so nonjudgmental about people, and you were nonjudgemental [about me not knowing anything about football]…You were so nice.”
Kelce also praised his fiancée during the episode, saying, “I’m serious, she makes me so much better.” He revealed that meeting Swift in person “was just the easiest conversation I’ve ever had.” He continued, “It just knocked my socks off. She blew me away. I’ve never experienced something so mesmerizing onstage and then so real and so beautiful in person.”
The pair will offer a look inside their romance in The End of an Era, a Disney+ docuseries about Swift’s global Eras Tour, set to premiere on December 12. Kelce makes a few cameos in the trailer, sharing a kiss with Swift and practicing for his June 2024 onstage appearance during the Eras Tour show at London’s Wembley Stadium. Swift’s mom, Andrea, also gives Kelce a shout-out in the teaser, telling the camera, “Travis Kelce, he brings a lot of happiness.”
