These 5 Nail Trends Will Be Everywhere in 2025, According to the Runways

Regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil says, spring is closer than you think. The days of blooming trees and sunny skies are near, which means that soon, we’ll be trading our cozy winter darks for spring brights—and our beauty looks are first in line for the colorful upgrade. Bright pops of color punctuated beauty looks for the spring/summer shows last September. Everything from vibrant red lips to colorful eyeshadows gave the makeup looks an elevated flair that deviated from the no-makeup-makeup style dominating previous seasons. However, the nails are what really took the beauty to new levels.

If the runways are any indication, nails will be the main attraction this spring. Extra long claws, metallic finishes, and playful designs were everywhere, giving an overwhelming amount of inspiration for our next nail salon visit. Ahead, ELLE got up close and personal with nail artists to get the inside scoop on the nail trends that will be everywhere this spring. See some of our favorites below.

Bejeweled

This season, expect to see plenty of bejeweled nails. Many nail artists chose to attach fun, dazzling accents onto nails. At Loveshack Fancy, nail artist Naomi Yasuda added small pearls on select French-tipped nails, while nail artist Holly Falcone popped tiny rhinestones onto short nude nails. In London, models at Sinead Gorey sported nails with a small gold hoop looped through the tip.

Metal Moment

Chrome and metallic nails were everywhere on the spring/summer 2025 runways. However, they weren’t the glazed donut nails of yore. Instead, the best metallics were dark and added a hint of mystery. At Theophilio, manicurist Miss Pop painted a metallic top coat over a black base for an extra moody nail. Other shows—like Luar and Libertine—had more classic metallic looks with silver and rose gold manicures.

Tip Top

French tips may have been on the backburner, but this year, they are back and better than ever. From smoky black tips at Naeem Khan to a more classic interpretation (but with lace trims) at Alice + Olivia, there’s a French tip variation for everyone.

Blackout

The nails on the spring runways weren’t particularly colorful—they were the opposite. Black nails reigned supreme, and were anything but boring. At Susan Alexandra, models had glittery black manicures. At Christian Cowan, models sported coffin-shaped black nails with star cutouts. Over at Nensi Dojaka, black nails were accented with dripping diamonds.

Length Check

Designers proved that sometimes you don’t need an uber bright color to have a bold manicure, you might just need longer nails. Whether or not you find them functional, you can’t deny that a long manicure will likely always turn heads. Pointy stiletto shapes, like the ones seen at Grace Ling, gave an edgy touch; square or coffin shapes, like the metallic and animal-printed nails at Luar, were a modern interpretation of a classic style. This spring, it’s time to throw practicality to the wind in favor of a bit of drama.
