All About Clara Wong, Paul Giamatti’s Actress Girlfriend
How actor Paul Giamatti’s love story with his girlfriend, Clara Wong, began hasn’t been publicly told yet. But it’s very possible work brought them together: A few years before they started dating, Wong was a recurring character on Billions, which Giamatti starred in.
While the two actors have managed to keep their relationship largely under wraps, they’ve shared a little. Here, everything to know about Wong and her history with Giamatti.

It’s unknown when Wong and Giamatti first met, but they do have shared work history preceding their romantic relationship.
Starting in 2016, Wong was a recurring character on the drama show, Billions, starring Giamatti. He played U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades Jr., and she played Troy, a dominatrix working at a private BDSM club in NYC who sometimes sees Chuck as a client.
Giamatti and Wong were first linked in 2019.
On October 24, in New York City, Giamatti and Wong both attended a fundraiser for the Denali Foundation. At one point, they posed together for a photo in front of a painted portrait of Giamatti.
Wong soft-launched her relationship with Giamatti on Instagram in 2020.
Way back in August 2020, Wong snuck a photo of Giamatti onto her Instagram grid. In the picture, his silhouette can be seen sitting in front of some sunny windows. She never named him, and only captioned the post with a single “????” emoji.
Wong posted Giamatti again in 2021.
In March 2021, Wong discreetly posted Giamatti once again. This time, his face was partially covered with an N95 mask and a face shield.
She’s been posting birthday tributes to him for years.
Wong’s first birthday post for her boyfriend came in June 2021. She posted a funny picture of him wearing a graphic t-shirt that read, “super charged flashlight firecrackers,” and captioned it, “Happy birthday to this firecracker!! ????????.”
The next year, she shared three different pictures of him, and wrote, “Happy Birthday to YOU! May it be filled with all the treats you can eat, all the books you can read, and all the Unsolved Mysteries podcast episodes you can listen to!”
Most recently, in 2023, Wong posted a mini photo dump of him smiling at her as they sat together on a bench.
“Happy birthday to this sweet soul! ????????♊️,” she said.
Giamatti and Wong made their red carpet debut in 2024.
The actors attended their first event as a couple in January 2024. They walked the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards. Wong wore a chocolate-brown sequin, halter-neck gown. She carried a small black Dolce & Gabbana handbag. Giamatti wore a black suit with a light-pink tie.
Since then, they’ve attended several other events together, like the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards.
Giamatti thanked Wong in his 2024 Critics Choice Awards speech.
On January 14, Giamatti took home the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor. In his speech, he thanked his family, and gave a special shout-out to Wong.
“I want to say, I love my beautiful girlfriend Clara Wong,” Giamatti said on stage as he accepted his award. “Why you bother with me, I don’t know why.”

For the biggest night of the 2024 awards season, Giamatti and Wong walked the red carpet together, too. Wong looked radiant in a silver sequin, long-sleeve gown. Giamatti wore a sophisticated black tuxedo. They then headed to the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party.
