What Made Selena Gomez Ready to ‘Shout’ Her Love for Benny Blanco ‘From the Rooftops’
Selena Gomez has been more public about her Benny Blanco romance than she has with any other recent relationship. Earlier this week, she even shared a video of him while announcing her social media break to focus “on what really matters.”
Blanco earned Gomez’s trust—and this very public embrace of their love story—over time, multiple sources told Us Weekly. The couple dated for six months privately, before going public. “Benny asked her to dinner, and they started seeing each other about once a week, taking it slow,” the source told Us.
Blanco stood out for his considerateness, the source added: “She loves how Benny treats her: He’s so kind and thoughtful. She’s never been with anyone like him. It’s been a very long time since friends saw Selena this happy. She’s positively glowing.”
A second source told Us that Gomez evaluated Blanco over time to see whether he was a good fit for her. “They kept things low key [at first], but Benny has passed every test with flying colors,” the insider said. “The new year seemed like a perfect time to essentially shout [their love] from the rooftops, so that’s what Selena is doing.”
That source added that Gomez wants Blanco to be a big part of her future: “Selena has made it clear that she wants Benny by her side from now on, and she’s proudly introducing him to everyone in her life.”
Back in August, Gomez spoke with SiriusXM Hits 1 LA about what traits she was looking for in a romantic partner. “I mean you gotta be cool, man,” she said. “Not cool in the sense that people think you’re cool. You just gotta be nice and like, please make me laugh and also just be good to my family and people around you.”
