Selena Gomez made it Instagram (grid) official with Benny Blanco in a big way, sharing two photos of them together—and one of them kissing—on the platform. The same day, a source spoke to The Messenger about their relationship and why it is so different for Gomez.

On social, Gomez shared a carousel of photos, including the two PDA shots with Blanco. “New York, my favorite moments w you this week ????” she captioned it. She started the carousel with a photo of her celebrating Taylor Swift’s birthday alongside her longtime friend. The Blanco photos were the second (featuring them hugging) and last pictures in the series. Blanco commented “????,” on her post, which we have to assume is a symbolic comment only they understand.

A source close to Gomez told The Messenger that Gomez and Blanco have a lot of history: “Selena and Benny have known each other for years. They started out as colleagues in the industry, and they have always had chemistry, especially when in the studio together.”

“She thinks he is a really cool guy and they have a lot in common,” the source continued. “She is definitely smitten. It is going well, and this is her first more serious relationship in a long time.”

Gomez went public with her Blanco romance last week. She revealed they had been dating privately for six months. “He has treated me better than any human being on this planet,” she wrote in one Instagram comment to a critic. To a second commenter, she shared, “He’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts.”
