Cardi B Wore Four Different Dresses on Met Gala Night, Starting With a Pink Tulle Column Gown

Cardi B truly committed to having the most outfit changes at the Met Gala last night, debuting four different ensembles at the event and subsequent after parties.

The rapper was first photographed in a pink tulle column gown by Miss Sohee when exiting her hotel:

She then changed into her most photographed red carpet look: a black Chenpeng Studio gown. She wore it over a sleeveless white collar top and black tie as an homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s signature outfit. Regarding the inspiration behind her look, she told Vogue on the red carpet, Karl and the house of Chanel, you know every girl from the hood love a Chanel purse. So I feel like this is giving boy bag with the camellia roses.”

Inside the event, she swapped that dress for a pink tweed gown designed by Richard Quinn. Her hairstyle stayed the same:

And finally, for the Met Gala after parties, she changed her hair and dress. Ultimately, Cardi B ended her night in a newspaper print-adorned gown. Twitter fans pointed out that the form-fitting dress appeared to have Women’s Wear Daily news articles about Lagerfeld’s work at Chanel on it—a sweet final tribute.

Cardi B told Emma Chamberlain during her Vogue red carpet interview that she was a little nervous walking the Met Gala red carpet because of the pressure. “Like the anxiety, sometimes I’ll be like, ‘I’m not doing the Met Gala next year. I just can’t do it. It’s bad for my health,’” Cardi said. “The anxiety is insane. Everything [is my fear]: bad pictures, people not liking my outfit, it’s just everything. The pressure!”

She also revealed during the interview why she was changing out of her red carpet dress, which she described as “the most comfortable dress I have ever worn.” Chamberlain had asked her how she was going to sit, and Cardi B replied, “No, I’m actually changing. I cannot sit in this dress.” An understandable confession given the sheer size of it.
