Selena Gomez Brings the Glamour in a Black Gown With Purple Statement Sleeves at the 2023 Golden Globes
As the Golden Globes stages its return following its past controversies, Selena Gomez graced the ceremony with her presence. Gomez stepped out on the red carpet, dressed glamorously in black dress with dramatic purple puff sleeves. She styled her hair down in a high ponytail and wore vampy makeup, pairing a nude lip with a smoky cat-eye.
Gomez has a major nomination at the ceremony: Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy, for her work in Only Murders in the Building. The show, which welcomed its second season last June, is also up for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and has four nominations total. Last month, Gomez spoke on TikTok with makeup artist Mikayla Nogueira about her excitement receiving her best actress nomination.
“Oh my God,” Gomez said, via Entertainment Tonight. “I’m so excited. I didn’t think I was gonna get—actually, I know I wasn’t gonna get nominated, or I thought. But I’m happy.”
Gomez said she would be shooting the show’s third season in New York City starting this January. She spoke to Rolling Stone this fall about her excitement living in the city now and keeping a low profile following the November release of her documentary, My Mind and Me.
“I have people literally say to me, ‘Stop saying you don’t like L.A.,’” Gomez said. “But if I’m honest, my schedule in New York is the crème de la crème. I have my system there, I have my workouts there, I have my coffee spots there. I get to walk and breathe there, and be inspired by New York City and the people and the life there.”
“I like all the slush and grossness,” she added of the New York winters. “I love being near all the Jewish grandmas. Nothing compares to being in your home in a blanket by the fireplace just reading or watching something.”
Gomez has been active on social media though. She last shared a birthday tribute to her close friend Nicola Peltz Beckham on January 8, featuring her and her little sister Gracie kissing Peltz Beckham on the cheek. Gomez spent her New Year’s Eve vacationing with Peltz Beckham, her husband Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, and other friends in Cabo.
“It’s not your bday yet but let’s celebrate NOW!” Gomez wrote.
Peltz Beckham commented, “Omg my sisters!! ????????????????????”
