Life is hard. Why commute to work when you could just drift away on a lazy river with a bottle of rosé like Adele? Why answer emails when you could simply be pushed around in a floaty by Insecure heartthrob Kendrick Sampson? If only it were that easy.

Adele’s new “I Drink Wine” music video offers a brief cure for that mid-week slump—a dreamy, romantic escape featuring the singer in repose in a magical grove, surrounded by a gorgeous formation of synchronized swimmers. (She’s also glowing in a custom gold Valentino gown.) But by the end of the Joe Talbot-directed visuals, Adele barely takes a sip of her glass and ends up dumping it in the water.

The song appears on Adele’s latest album, 30, which dropped last November, but she first debuted it during her televised special with Oprah Winfrey days before the release. “I stopped drinking,” Adele said at the time, explaining the backstory to the song. “That’s one great way of really sort of getting to know yourself, is just drinking water and being sober as anything.” Winfrey mentioned Adele had a “fascinating relationship with alcohol,” and the singer explained that was “very much” true, “because it took my dad from me.”

Adele revealed that this was actually the first video she shot for 30, even though her videos for “Easy on Me” and “Oh My God” were released earlier. Could this mean she could be sitting on other content to be released soon?

Up next, Adele will begin hosting her long-awaited Las Vegas residency in November, lasting through March 2023. The shows were originally scheduled to start in January 2022, but had to be postponed due to COVID-related delays. The signer told ELLE that canceling was “the worst moment in my career, by far,” but she has big plans for the rescheduled performances.

“I want to tell the story of the beginning of my career to now,” she said. “I’m not gonna give too much about it, but the show grows. The show grows. It’s all about the music, and it’s really, really nostalgic. It’s gonna be really beautiful.”
