Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Give Two Striking Takes on an All-White Suit
Kate Middleton kicked off her official summer event wardrobe by wearing a striking all-white suit today at the unveiling of the National Windrush Monument at Waterloo Station in London. The Duchess of Cambridge wore her brown hair down straight and accessorized with a small white handbag.
But Kate isn’t the only royal to make a statement in the monochrome workwear ensemble. Meghan Markle made her grand entrance at the Invictus Games at The Hague by wearing an all-white suit back in April. Meghan and Kate styled their looks slightly differently, but the effect is the same: It’s workwear at its most regal.
Meghan wore her hair in waves and opted to wear nothing under her blazer top unlike Kate, who wore a white blouse under it. Meghan accessorized with white heels and cream-colored bag.
While this is Kate’s first time wearing a white suit this season, it isn’t her only time wearing workwear. The Duchess went out in a pink blazer, slacks, and a white top last week to celebrate the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood’s one-year anniversary. On her Instagram, she wrote about the significance of the milestone.
“It is a year since we launched the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood,” the Duchess wrote. “Today was another opportunity to highlight the unique importance of the first five years and the significant impact it has on our later life outcomes. The Centre’s research shows that the importance of the early years is underestimated, and, despite what the science is now telling us, we know that only a minority of people understand the critical importance of the first five years of a child’s life. This can be a complex issue but we have the opportunity to help shape the future.”
