For months, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas managed to keep their baby girl’s name and birth date hidden from the public. But yesterday, TMZ obtained the birth certificate the couple filed, which revealed the two named their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. She was born on January 15 in San Diego shortly after 8 P.M., the outlet added.
“‘Malti’ generally means small fragrant flower or moonlight and it’s of Sanskrit, Indian origin,” TMZ wrote of the name’s meaning. The couple has not publicly commented on the name or explained why they picked it.
Chopra and Jonas announced Malti’s birth in January. “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate,” Chopra wrote on January 21. “We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.”

In March, a source spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how the couple’s first month with their little girl went. “Priyanka and Nick love being new parents and have been spending a lot of downtime at home,” the source said. “The two have wanted children for a while and so happy it finally happened. Priyanka and Nick are private but have let close friends and family meet their baby.”
Chopra and Jonas haven’t talked themselves about being new parents in detail yet, but Chopra did share the first look at Malti’s nursery in late February, complete with its stuffed animal decor.
