Navy Hands Over Nine Suspected Oil Thieves To NSCDC – – The Tide
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barrister George Ariolu has advised Christians to participate in politics and showcase themselves as tools for repositioning Nigeria for the interest of the people.
He also called on Christians to awaken themselves to their civic responsibilities as citizens of Nigeria.
The chairman gave this advise in Rumuigbo while addressing a congregation at a birthday ceremony and book launch of Founder of Light House Ministries, Rumuigbo, Pastor Henry Amadi.
Ariolu, who frowned at the level of hypocrisy amongst Christians, challenged them to grab their permanent voters cards (PVCS) and vote for righteous leaders as the race for the 2023 general election intensifies.
According to him, if governance in Nigeria was rightly done, about 80percent of prayer points made by Christians would be cancelled and brought to reality.
Speaking further, he charged Christians to take realistic steps towards changing the political architecture of Nigeria, urging them to get involved in politics and stop shying away from responsibilities.
“The height of our hypocrisy as Christians needs to be shoved aside, and I’m vehement about it. A statement says that ‘when the righteous rules, the people rejoice’. Who are the righteous people? How can the righteous rule when they don’t have their PVCs? They are not interested in going to vote! How can the righteous rule?
“We are so religious to the point that we forget to do those things that God has given us the grace and enablement to do as humans. If we get governance right, 80percent of our prayer points will be cancelled.
“Every time we come here, we say God help me to get a good job, let the economic situation change. That is not what God is supposed to do for you; it is what government is supposed to do for you! We are here because the wrong people are at the saddle of political affairs. 2023 is by the corner, and the question is: do we still continue to sit by the side and watch?
“We should do well to change the political architecture and dimension of this country. And to be at the forefront is the church! Let the church be awake to its responsibilities, it is very important for us.
“The time has come again, talk to your congregation to go and get their PVC. With your PVC, God will direct you on whom to vote, the right person or the righteous person. There is nothing wrong with us as Christians playing politics”, Ariolu said.
Furthermore, the chairman has pointed out that Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality would produce the next president of Nigeria in Governor Nyesom Wike as he called on Christians to back the governor’s ambition and bid to rescue the nation from the fetters of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.
Eulogising Wike for his upright and firm leadership qualities, he maintained that God does not need permission of man to bless whoever He deems fit.
The chairman further commended Pastor Henry Amadi for his tremendous achievements and service to God and humanity.
