Police seal Edo APC secretariat in Uromi over leader’s suspension – Guardian Nigeria

Oye, Maku blame enemies for APGA crises
Armed policemen yesterday sealed the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uromi, headquarters of Esan North East Local Council Area.

This followed the crisis that rocked the party after the suspension of the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Joe Okojie.

He was suspended barely one week after he assumed office as a special adviser.

Okojie and five others were alleged to have taken some decisions that undermined the positions of the councils’ Chairman and Secretary, Vasco Agwi and Adolphus Imoisili.

The police prevented the party leaders from holding a scheduled meeting at the secretariat, which made them to relocate to a motor park for the meeting.

At an enlarged executive committee meeting of the party on Tuesday, they said Okojie was no longer competent to lead the party.

They accused him of singlehandedly nominating the special assistants and senior special assistants that were recently appointed by the governor.

According to them, instead of Okojie to respond to the allegations against him, he raised an “illegal five-man committee” to probe the chairman and secretary on frivolous grounds.

A petition by 21 of the 34-member EXCO in the local council was addressed to the state Chairman of the party, Anselm Ojezua.

It was also copied to Governor Godwin Obaseki, ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Osaro Idah.

Okojie was said to have travelled abroad when attempts were made to contact him, while the state chairman said he was yet to receive the said petition.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Oye and the Secretary, Labaran Maku have blamed enemies for the crises currently rocking the party.

Oye spoke at Igbariam, when he conducted members of the APGA’s National Working Committee (NWC) on a tour of projects executed by Governor Willie Obiano.

He stressed that the opposition would not be able to take over Anambra State, adding that Obiano was working hard to improve the lives of the people.
