Satin Is Coming for Your Handbag Collection

While everyone raves on and on about suede, I’ve already moved on to the next. “And what’s next?” you ask. The satin bag trend—mark my words. Silky, satiny bags will be a major theme throughout the next year, as they loomed large on both fall/winter 2026 and spring/summer 2027 runways.

Fall’s catwalks leaned into ’90s minimalism, and satin shoes and bags were part of the nostalgia. A range of designers all utilized the textile, almost exclusively in the form of clutch silhouettes. Michael Kors and Elisabetta Franchi went for warm red hues, whereas Calvin Klein erred on the side of peach blush. Erdem’s iteration was pink and embellished with a bit of whimsy, while Lanvin went for a baby blue tone with a metallic frame.

As for spring and summer, structures veered away from clutches and moved towards shoulder and top-handle styles—Celine even tried a tote bag. Moschino offered a red pouch, Alberta Ferretti donned a ballet slipper pink drawstring style, and (my favorite) Loulou De Saison debuted an apple green take.

I like this trend because it blurs the line between evening bag and everyday bag. Why not add a little sheen to your accessory collection? Whether you’re building a fall bag capsule or doing your best French girl impression, consider a satin bag this season’s most stylish choice.
