Kacstone Records’ MD honoured by Upper East GJA for community development

Managing Director of Kacstone Record’s and Chairman of the Paga Youth Movement, Mr. Wenawome Aborah Duriyem, has been honoured by the Upper East Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for his contributions to community development and youth empowerment in the region.

The honour was presented to him at the 5th Upper East Regional GJA Awards Ceremony held on October 2, 2026.

The citation recognised his contributions to youth empowerment, peacebuilding, security, education, healthcare, culture and tourism across the Upper East Region.

According to the GJA, Mr. Wenawome, through the Paga Youth Movement, has mobilised young people and collaborated with security agencies in efforts to combat crime and drug abuse, while youth-centred peace initiatives, including community football matches, have promoted unity, friendship and peaceful coexistence.

The citation also acknowledged his support to the Navrongo Divisional Police Headquarters, schools and the Paga Hospital, describing the interventions as contributions to improved security, education and healthcare delivery.

It further highlighted the role of Kacstone Record’s in promoting local music and emerging talents, particularly Kasem-language music, helping to preserve and celebrate the region’s cultural identity.

His support for heritage tourism was also recognised, including efforts towards the redevelopment of the Pikworo Slave Camp.

The GJA said the recognition was for Mr. Wenawome’s dedication to empowering young people, supporting communities and institutions, promoting peace, and advancing the region’s development.

Receiving the award, Mr. Wenawome expressed appreciation to the GJA and dedicated the recognition to the organisations and individuals working towards the development of the region.

“I accept this recognition not only on my own behalf, but also on behalf of Kacstone Records, the Paga Youth Movement, and all those who continue to contribute to the development of our communities,” he said.

Mr. Wenawome also used the occasion to acknowledge the role of journalists in regional development, urging media practitioners to remain committed to their profession.

“Journalism remains one of the most important pillars of development in the Upper East Region,” he added.

“You are a voice to communities, I urge you to remain resolute, courageous, and committed to responsible journalism.”

He expressed his gratitude to the Upper East Regional GJA for the honour, adding that he dedicated the recognition to everyone working for the progress of the Upper East Region.
