Kwame Nkrumah’s children ask Nzemas to forgive them for staying away from home 

Children of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, have appealed to the people of Nzema to forgive them for their long absence from home.

They said the family was traumatised following attacks on their father’s life.

“The family has forgiven those who hated our father because he stood for unity and humanity,” they said.

Madam Samia Yaba Nkrumah, daughter of Dr Nkrumah, made the appeal on behalf of the immediate family at this year’s NkrumahFest celebrations at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

She said the children of the first president had returned home to contribute to the progress, development and unity of Ghana.

Madam Yaba Nkrumah, former Member of Parliament for Jomoro, said the children were back to recognise the works and ideas of Dr Nkrumah and let the world know that his ideas never died.

She observed that the unveiling of a statue in honour of Kwame Nkrumah meant that Nzema, Ghana and Africa would rise again.

She pledged the support of the Nkrumah family for the annual Kwame Nkrumah Festival (NkrumahFest) celebrations and stressed the need to reintroduce Kwame Nkrumah’s ideologies to the younger generation for them to uphold and reconstruct them.
