Kejetia Market Phase Two works to resume in October 2026 — Ashanti Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has revealed that work on the second phase of the Kejetia-Central Market redevelopment, which stalled for years, will resume in October 2026.

According to him, the President has directed the Ministry of Local Government to ensure swift completion of the project.

He said this when the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs engaged traders on issues affecting the market on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

“President John Dramani Mahama constructed phase one, and now he is working on completing phase two. Evidently, the President has done it before, so trust him to finish this too,” he said.

The Minister noted that the NDC government inherited debts in relation to the construction work, adding that government had to mobilize resources before work could resume.

He noted that the Minister of Finance has also confirmed they will make funds available for the market in October.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene noted that the Local Government Minister will meet the traders even before work resumes.

He called on the traders to remain calm and support the President as he works to complete the project.
