Luminous Skin, Grunge Eyes, and Wild Hair Take Over Collina Strada’s NYFW Runway Show
New York Fashion Week may have come to a close, but Collina Strada made sure it ended on a wonderfully whimsical note. For its spring/summer 2027 runway show, the brand decamped to Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, just over an hour outside Manhattan, where rolling fields, mounds of wildflowers, and imposing outdoor sculptures created a setting that felt plucked straight from a dream.
The show, which debuted the brand’s spring/summer 2027 collection, celebrated playfulness and youthful self-expression. Soft pastels, including butter yellow and lavender, appeared in the form of frothy layers of tulle and lace, distinctive ruching, and dramatic, floor-sweeping capes.
Behind Collina Strada’s Beauty Looks
Of course, the fantasy began backstage, where carefully considered hair, makeup, and skin prep helped bring Collina Strada’s dreamlike world to life.
However, the most interesting part of prep was dental care—even the models’ pearly whites received the backstage treatment, courtesy of Evenmouth, the oral care brand founded by dentist Dr. Eve Lofthus. “We used the DuoBiotic Toothpaste to prep and brush the models’ mouths and teeth, then finished with the MultiBiotic Dental Drops right before they walked,” Dr. Lofthus shares with ELLE.com. The freshly polished smiles made a statement on the runway, too. As Carly Rae Jepsen emerged for a surprise finale performance, models skipped and raced down the runway, gleaming smiles on full display. “Between early call times, coffee, and a long day backstage, we wanted everyone to feel fresh and have healthy smiles so they could express themselves confidently on the runway,” she explained.
Another beauty highlight on the Collina Strada runway was the models’ flawless complexions, courtesy of diligent skin prep by Mara Beauty. The brand’s Pearl Peptide Glaze created a noticeably smooth, glassy finish. “The Glaze is essential for our pearlescent Collina Strada glass skin. It hydrates, treats, and primes the skin, [making for] the perfect glowy base for foundation,” notes Francelle Daly, the lead makeup artist. That glowing, pristine skin provided a bold contrast to the deliberately undone beauty elsewhere. “There is a fairy tale indie sleaze vibe with the hair, makeup, and clothes, and the skin is immaculate and ethereal against the grunge eye looks,” Daly states.
The hairstyles ranged from backcombed beehives to wild, textured waves sculpted into partial mohawks, with some looks complemented by charming headpieces that made each feel like its own unique character. Eugene Souleiman meticulously crafted the looks using Ceremonia products.
And sure, while you may not be rushing to recreate the wilder ’dos at home, I’m already eyeing the models’ tamer hairstyles and planning to emulate their glowing complexions and gleaming smiles. Shop the products behind the looks below.
