“His Legacy Endures” — Kristo Asafo Marks Apostle Safo Kantanka’s Birthday with Massive Charity Outreach

The Kristo Asafo Mission has commemorated the posthumous birthday of its late founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, with a major charitable outreach, reaffirming that his humanitarian spirit continues to guide the church’s work across the country.

To honour the occasion, the Bompata Branch of Kristo Asafo in Kumasi — supported by several sister branches — donated a substantial consignment of relief items and cash to the Kumasi Central Prison and the Kumasi Children’s Home.

The items included large quantities of food provisions, bottled water, assorted drinks, toiletries, sanitary pads, and an undisclosed cash amount to support the feeding and operational needs of both institutions.

Addressing the gathering, Head Pastor of the Bompata Branch, Sofo Osei Kwadwo, said philanthropy remains a permanent mandate handed down by Apostle Safo Kantanka, not an occasional gesture.

He noted that the church will continue to honour its founder annually by extending support to the poor and vulnerable nationwide.

“Our father set a pace of giving and caring for the needy that we cannot allow to die. Though he is no longer physically with us, he is alive through his works and legacy. We are committed to obeying his words by celebrating his birthday every year with acts of charity that alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable,” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Kumasi Central Prison, the Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana Prisons Service, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle, expressed deep appreciation for Kristo Asafo’s consistent support.

He noted that while government allocations assist in inmate upkeep, donations from religious bodies remain crucial in ensuring humane conditions within correctional facilities.

DDP Mwinyelle also appealed to church leaders to partner with the Prisons Service on crime‑prevention campaigns aimed at guiding young people away from activities that could lead to incarceration.

“We urge the church to open its doors to our officers so we can educate the youth on behaviours and activities that could lead them into conflict with the law. Preventing our young people from ending up in prison is a shared responsibility,” he said.
