From Sheer Neutrals to Juicy Fruits, These Summer 2026 Nail Trends Are About to Be Everywhere
We love nail designs no matter the season, but something about summer nail trends hits differently. Whether it’s the warm weather talking or just a recent spurt of creativity, this time of year can make us feel extra playful with nail colors and finishes. However, that doesn’t mean our minimalist nail obsession will be going away any time soon. According to nail artist Kiko Kitano, you can expect the best of both worlds this season.
“Summer 2026 nails are expected to be a mix of two extremes,” says Kitano. “The ultra-clean, refined minimalism and expressive, artistic, curated editorial maximalism, or nails as a fashion accessory.”
Want to land somewhere in the middle? Manicurist Pattie Yankee has some tips for striking a chic balance. “Muted-but-bright shades are a good replacement for bold neon,” says Yankee. “Nail colors we will be seeing this summer are icy blues, marigold yellow, coral pink, pistachio green, tomato red, aqua, turquoise and peach,” says Yankee.
From your big summer vacation to peak wedding season, there are plenty of occasions to put this season’s top trends to the test. Ahead, we asked experts to share their favorite looks to try now.
Naked Luxury
The “your-nails-but-better” look is still going strong for summer 2026, according to manicurist and Kiss Nails & Impress Nails brand ambassador Gina Edwards.
“This summer, we’re seeing a strong shift toward elevated minimalistic nails that look glossy and effortless,” says Edwards. “What makes this trend feel modern is the focus on nail health and light-reflective luxury.”
To get the look, Yankee recommends using sheer pink, translucent jelly finishes, soft almond tones, and translucent whites. “This look embodies healthy-looking nails, sheer finishes, and understated elegance,” says Yankee. “The vibe is, ‘I have amazing nails naturally.’”
Sensory Nails
On the other side of the spectrum, maximalist designs encourage you to take things up a notch with textured finishes that give your nail look a custom feel.
“Playful 3D nail art inspired by fruits, shells, flowers, and nostalgic vacation motifs will be a major summer trend,” says Kitano. “The look feels handcrafted, expressive, and slightly nostalgic, mixing textured gel details with glossy finishes, chrome accents, and soft pastel colors. From cherry designs to seashell textures and jelly-like 3D art, these styles bring a fun vacation energy while still feeling elevated and wearable.”
Edwards agrees, adding that press-on nails are a great option to try the look with low commitment. “Kiss ICON in Remarkable offers the perfect mix of sculpted 3D effects and pearl embellishments,” she says.
Soft Iridescence
There’s no better way to add extra shine than with a chrome finish. Instead of the mirror-reflective glazed-donut look we’ve come to know, Edwards says summer 2026 is bringing a subtler approach.
“Chrome is constantly evolving, but this season, it’s more about tinted chromes in sunset shades, champagne gold, peach chrome, and rose metallic finishes,” says Edwards. “Clients still want that reflective futuristic look, but in a softer, wearable way that feels luxurious for daytime and vacation season.”
Her go-to look? “I love layering chrome powders over warm nude or peach bases to create dimension without overpowering the nail,” says Edwards. “These looks work with any nail shape and length.”
Kitano agrees: “The look feels clean, glossy, and effortless while still adding a luminous glow to the nails,” she says. “Layering translucent nude or milky gels with pearl chrome helps create the modern ‘lit-from-within’ effect.”
Cheek Nails
Our favorite makeup product has turned into our new favorite nail look. According to Kitano, the best way to recreate that summery sun-kissed flush on the cheeks is on your fingernails.
“In Japan, this look is commonly called ‘cheek nails’ because the diffused color placement resembles blush on the cheeks,” says Kitano. “Some salons create the effect using an airbrush technique, while many artists now use a sponge application for a softer and more effortless finish. The style feels simple, cute, and wearable while still adding dimension and color.”
Fruit Market
Looking for your next nail art design? Yankee says fruit motifs are perfect for the season. “Fruit-themed nails are trending because they tap into the playful foodie aesthetic popularized by celebrities like Hailey Bieber. Plus, fruit is already associated with summer,” she says. “This trend [features] intricate micro-fruits, 3D textured fruits, and the ultra-glossy, sheer fruit water looks. Whimsical, bright, and fruity designs bring a refreshing dose of color and charm, making them the ultimate seasonal accessory.”
Unless you’re skilled at DIY-ing nail art at home, Yankee recommends going to the salon to get serviced by a pro. “Textured fruits are achieved with adding thick gel accents to the fruits,” she says. “Fruit water nails are a sheer, watery-nail tint that is subtle, juicy, and glossy. It uses one coat of a sheer jelly, fruity colored shade that you can easily layer for a more intense finish.”
However, a great cheat code is fruit nail stickers: “Try stickers or small fruit charms to achieve the micro-fruit look,” Yankee adds.
