See Blake Lively Fully Transformed as Redhead Lily in the First It Ends With Us Set Photos

Blake Lively has transformed into Lily Bloom, red hair and all. Production on her upcoming film, It Ends With Us, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2016 book, has begun in New York City. The first set photos surfaced yesterday, showcasing how different Lively looks in character with red curly hair. Lively was photographed filming with her co-star Justin Baldoni, who plays Ryle, one of Lily’s love interests in the book.

Lively announced her casting in January.

It Ends With Us isn’t exactly a rom-com. The novel details Lily’s relationships with Atlas, her first love, and Ryle, her new love, whom she meets after moving to Boston post-college. It is not a light story but rather one that portrays domestic violence and abuse.

The movie itself isn’t shying away from the premise either. Variety originally wrote that the story follows “a young woman through the tumultuous stages of an abusive relationship. After moving to the city of Boston after college, she decides to start her own business as a florist only to fall in love with a young neurosurgeon.” Ryle, Baldoni’s character, is the neurosurgeon. 1923 star Brandon Sklenar will play Atlas.

This is Lively’s first film project in years; she last starred in The Rhythm Section, which was released in 2020. She also had red hair for that role, although she was wearing a wig for it. She posted a photo of herself in character from the film when she subtly announced her casting as Lily earlier this year.
