NPP Elects John Boadu as National Chairman, Sets Stage for 2028 Rebuilding Agenda


The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Mr John Boadu as its new National Chairman, tasking him and a freshly constituted executive team with steering the party over the next four years and leading efforts toward a strong comeback in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Boadu, a former General Secretary, takes over from Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, who opted not to seek re‑election. He secured 2,888 votes at the party’s National Executive Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, defeating former Energy Minister Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko (2,408 votes) and former National Chairman Paul Afoko (790 votes). Samuel Kenneth Adolphus Ben Crabbe garnered 41 votes.
Key Executive Outcomes
- General Secretary: Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong retained his position with 4,486 votes, ahead of Mr Sylvester Tetteh (1,340), Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi (162) and Dr Charles Dwamena (129).
- National Vice Chairpersons: The vice chair slots went to:
- Kojo Fosu Boadu — 3,160 votes
- Henry Nana Boakye — 3,061 votes
- Dr Mustapha Abdul‑Hamid — 2,956 votes
- Nana Akomea — 2,987 votes
Other contenders included Yaa Amponsah Frimpong (1,503), Richard Ahiagba (1,001), Masawudu Osman (890), with remaining candidates polling between 51 and 247 votes.
- National Treasurer: Alfred Kojo Thompson emerged winner with 2,243 votes, followed by Tahiru Issahaku Moomin (1,605), Collins Nuamah (1,582) and Ruka Saida Ahmed (687).
- National Organiser: Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus‑Glover won with 2,964 votes, ahead of Ali Maiga Halidu (2,231). Other candidates included Kwame Amo Prempeh (445), Emmanuel Korsi Bodja (145), Seth Agyei Yeboah (137), Daniel Agyenim Boateng (105) and Archibald Gamir Korletey (85).
- Youth Organiser: Abagna Yakubu Fusani secured 1,550 votes, beating Clement Opoku Gyamfi (631). Additional contenders were Michael Osei Boateng (78), Vera Oye Bram‑Larbi (44), Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah (46) and Alfred Ababio Kumi (25).
- Women’s Organiser: Mavis Hawa Koomson won with 782 votes, defeating Safia Mohammed (429).
- National Nasara Organiser: Mohammed Ali Suraj secured 372 votes, followed by Saalim Mansuru Bamba (311) and Awal Mohammed (106).
- Communications Director: Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was elected to lead the party’s communications machinery.
Mandate for the Next Four Years
The newly elected executives are expected to provide strategic leadership as the NPP embarks on a comprehensive reorganisation drive aimed at strengthening its grassroots, rebuilding party structures and positioning itself competitively for the 2028 general election.
Their mandate centres on unity, restructuring and a renewed push to return the party to political power.
