Mahama, Chinese Vice President holds talks on sidelines of UN General Assembly

President John Dramani Mahama has held talks with Mr Han Zheng, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

A statement issued by the Presidency said the meeting provided an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss ways of deepening Ghana-China relations and advancing areas of mutual interest.

The 81st UNGA, being held from September 18 to 28, 2026, is on the theme: “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All.”

The Assembly is focusing on rebuilding confidence in multilateral cooperation, accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, and addressing global conflicts, climate action and pandemic preparedness.
