Ghana Police Service completes nationwide training ahead of Traffitech-GH rollout

The Ghana Police Service has intensified preparations for the rollout of the Traffitech-GH project on October 1, 2026, with its Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) completing a nationwide training programme to prepare personnel for the new automated traffic enforcement system.

The training, organised by the MTTD in collaboration with its private sector partner, was aimed at equipping selected Police personnel and public sector partners with the knowledge and practical skills required for the effective implementation of Traffitech-GH.

It formed part of preparations for the operationalisation of the system under Regulation 242 and was the fifth session in a series of nationwide enforcement training programmes.

Participants included MTTD personnel from Ho, as well as representatives from the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

The training covered automated road traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, an overview of the Traffitech-GH system and its implementation, as well as the process for contesting traffic offences.

Participants were also taken through the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153), which provide the legal framework relevant to the implementation of the new enforcement measures.

Selected members of the Volta Regional back-office team also received practical training in the operation of the in-vehicle fixed camera and the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera.

Ahead of the October 1 rollout, the Volta Regional back office has been established at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho, with the updated Traffitech-GH software installed and ready for operational use.
