‘Ghana Jollof’ case is a foolish case – Martin Kpebu tells Police CID

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has described the case being pursued against the alleged operator of the “Ghana Jollof” social media account as without merit, questioning the basis for the Police action.

The Police have declared Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof”, wanted over alleged incitement to violence and other online activities.

The Service says Kodua, who is believed to be in the United Kingdom, used the account to publish videos containing alleged false and inflammatory content, including a claim that there had been a near coup d’état at the Jubilee House.

The investigation has also led to the arrest and remand of Techiman-based senior nursing officer Salomey Awiti Bafoh, who the Police accuse of helping to distribute Kodua’s videos and facilitating their circulation on social media.

Police say investigations uncovered interactions and financial transactions between the two women and are also being used to trace other people allegedly involved in the activities.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, September 23, Kpebu argued that the issues surrounding the use of inflammatory remarks should be addressed through dialogue rather than focusing solely on arrests and prosecution.

“Ghana Jollof has insulted people who are in high society, and she says she is retaliating for what Kevin Taylor has done, and that if Kevin Taylor stops, she will stop. So that’s where we must solve. You don’t go picking that particular detail,” he said.

His comments echo his earlier call for a broader national dialogue on the controversy, arguing that arrests and prosecutions alone would not resolve what he described as Ghana’s wider problem of political insults and inflammatory public discourse.
