These Hotels Are Taking Their Bath Amenities to the Next Level

It’s no secret that The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach is one of fashion’s favorite hotels—the Instagram-friendly backdrops, the scene, the service, the location, all of it. It’s one of those rare spots that has truly achieved icon status. But for me, the detail that immediately brings me back (and you don’t always notice on Instagram) is the bath amenities: a custom LAFCO New York blend, “Pink Paradise,” a scrumptious blend of creamy coconut, passion fruit, and amber that smells like Palm Beach bottled up. I fell for it immediately—and, naturally, started wondering if there was a way to bring an extra bottle back home.

It wasn’t always this way, though. Once upon a time, hotel bath amenities were an afterthought: tiny bottles of generic shampoo that left hair fried, and inelegant bars of soap that turned skin into sandpaper. Not anymore. Today, the world’s best hotels are turning the bathroom into a beauty destination, stocking showers with coveted brands and bespoke scents, turning the experience of getting ready—or winding down—into a highlight of your stay. Such a highlight, in fact, that you might just find yourself pilfering some extras from the housekeeping cart on your way out.

We’re taking a deep dive through the most exciting partnerships that are changing the game, whether it’s bespoke fragrances, clean formulations, salon-quality products, or all of the above. Here are the must-have hotel bath amenities to have on your radar.

Ritz-Carlton & MERIT Beauty

For the art of getting ready

The Ritz-Carlton

Forget your beauty kit at home? No worries—if you’re at select Ritz-Carlton properties, where Club Level guests will now find a co-branded MERIT Beauty cart stocked with the cult-favorite brand’s Great Skin Serum, Great Skin Double Cleanse, Clean Volume Mascara, and Flush Balm. The partnership extends to the room-service menu, where guests can order beauty bundles straight to their room.

Mandarin Oriental & Amouage

For a truly luxurious fragrance experience

Mandarin Oriental

Global luxury brand Mandarin Oriental is rolling out “Whispers of the Fan,” an exclusive amenity range created with Amouage, the Omani high-perfumery house known for its distinctive, sumptuous fragrances. Inspired by MO’s roots in Hong Kong and Bangkok, the line turns the traditional hotel amenity into something downright decadent. It’s the kind of fragrance that lingers just long enough—and will have people asking, “What’s that you’re wearing?”

Castle Hill Inn & Farmaesthetics

Local botanicals at their best

Castle Hill Inn

At Castle Hill Inn, the bath amenities feel as though they could only exist here—like, right here. The Newport, Rhode Island, property uses Farmaesthetics, a local brand crafted from botanicals grown not just in Rhode Island, but a few mere miles north of the hotel. The effect is distinctly New England: fresh, unfussy, and somehow evocative of salt air and the rust on your door. It’s a perfect example of how something local, clean, and ethical can feel just as luxurious and relevant as anything the global luxury brands are offering.

W Hotels & Davines

Salon-quality hair care, at global scale

Listen, ten years ago, nobody loved a heavenly-smelling Bliss amenity at a W Hotel like I did. But if you hadn’t heard, W Hotels has been undergoing a global brand transformation away from its nightlife-centric vibe and toward a more elegant, all-day, all-night atmosphere that feels right for today. As such, it’s switched up its amenities: gone are the Bliss products, and in their stead are must-haves from popular Italy-based sustainable brand Davines. They’re much gentler on hair, feel that much more grown-up, and the smell is, somehow, even more heavenly.

Le Toiny & Ortigia

For the best of Italy, French-style

Ortigia scented soaps and lotions displayed on a wooden table next to a pool.

Le Toiny

At Le Toiny, the discreet luxury stay of choice on the French overseas collectivity of St. Barths, the bath ritual gets an Italian accent. The boutique hotel has partnered with Ortigia, the Sicilian beauty house known for its lush fragrances and botanical formulas, bringing a little Mediterranean sensuality to the Caribbean. The fragrances are distilled from Sicilian flowers by master perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi, and the formulas rely on natural ingredients including olive oil and vegetable glycerin. It’s a decadent experience worthy of this chic island.

Sugar Beach & Augustinus Bader

For clinical-grade skin care

At Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort in St. Lucia, the hotel amenity has officially entered skin care-obsessed territory. While Augustinus Bader products are already on offer in the resort’s spa, there’s a new in-room experience that puts the cult German skin care brand’s science-backed formulas directly into guests’ hands: those who book a Luxury Villa or Grand Luxury Villa for a minimum of three nights will be greeted with a curated selection of Augustinus Bader products in their room: a sunscreen, eye patches, and face masks.

Cheval Blanc Paris & Dior

For the pinnacle of Parisian glamour

Cheval Blanc Paris

Leave it to LVMH-backed Cheval Blanc Paris to turn the hotel bathroom into a Dior moment. The maison commissioned longtime Dior perfumer François Demachy to create exclusive scents under his own mark for the property. Those appear throughout the bathroom, from soap and body lotion to scrub, shower gel, hand cream, and lip balm, while candles and room sprays carry the scent throughout the hotel. Shampoos and a hair mask come from French hair care expert Leonor Greyl. For VIPs and repeat guests, however, there is, of course, an even higher echelon of luxury: Dior-branded amenities. Chic, c’est la vie.

The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort & Sodashi

For discovering a unique clean beauty leader

The best sorts of hotel experiences involve some sort of discovery—a new neighborhood, new cuisine, new people, and so forth. At the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort north of Miami Beach, that sense of discovery now extends to the bathroom: all ocean-view rooms and suites come equipped with products from luxury Australian vegan beauty brand Sodashi. While it’s been popular Down Under since 1999 for its luxurious, 100 percent natural hair, body, and skin products, Sodashi is one of those brands that still carries an air of mystery in the States. And after staying at this St. Regis, you’ll be hooked.

Hermitage Bay & Aromatherapy Associates

For cruelty-free, ethically sourced aromatherapy

Hermitage Bay

At this elegant hideaway in Antigua, the bath amenities are designed to do more than make you smell good. The dreamy outdoor showers in each villa at this secluded resort use sustainable Aromatherapy Associates products, whose essential oil-based formulations are hand-blended in London. Crafted from a blend of lavender and ylang-ylang, the products truly deepen Hermitage Bay’s inherent sense of relaxation.
