5 Runway-Approved Bag Trends to Carry This Fall

Estimated read time2 min read

I love all accessories, but I might be partial to bags. (Then again, who am I to resist shoes…) As I pored through the fall/winter 2026 runways while working on this story, I noticed that texture is a distinct pattern among fall’s hottest trends. Be it crocodile, fur, or satin, unique fabrics are all the rage. And does needlepoint count as texture? Or is it embellishment? I’ll let you decide.

Ahead, I’m breaking down five of the biggest bag trends, based on the fall runways.

Fendi fall/winter 2026

“’90s minimalism trending yet again?” I hear you, loud and clear, but little black bags really did make their mark on this season’s runways. Gucci, Chanel, Michael Kors, Fendi, and Prada all offered their own iterations of the small black shoulder bag.

Prada fall/winter 2026

Snakeskin might have ruled last year, but this fall, it’s all about the croc-embossed look. Prada buckled up its blue top-handle bag, while Chanel went for red, and Celine went purple. As for Gucci and Bottega Veneta, they kept it neutral.

Fur

If you’re like me, all you can think about is what a nightmare these must be to clean. But we do it all for the love of fashion, right? Chanel’s oversized and multicolored bag was a clear standout, as were styles from Chloé, Loewe, Dior, Miu Miu, and Fendi.

Satin

Lanvin fall/winter 2026

Add an elevated elegance to your handbag collection with a touch of satin this fall. These appeared at Michael Kors, Lanvin, Erdem, Calvin Klein, and Elisabetta Franchi—and always in the form of clutches. I’ve got my eye on a few top-handle and shoulder styles, as well.

Embroidery and Needlepoint

Dolce & Gabbana fall/winter 2026

“Florals for fall” might roll off the tongue, but it’s generally not a trend we see. This year, however, might be different, as florals take form in embroidery and needlepoint work adorning bags from Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Valentino, Givenchy, and Loro Piana.
