How Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Are Transforming MSG: All We Know About Their Wedding Décor
THE RUNDOWN
- Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are reportedly getting married at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
- Ahead of the event, photos and videos have surfaced of deliveries to the venue, including castle-like stairs and greenery.
- Sources have also spoken about the pair’s wedding décor.
Madison Square Garden, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported wedding venue, is being transformed this week. Photos have emerged of deliveries to the arena ahead of the events, which multiple outlets—including ABC News and The New York Times—report are happening July 2 and 3.
On Tuesday, multiple sources told TMZ that the singer was having a fairytale-like castle built inside for her nuptials. Photos have since surfaced of castle-like white pieces being loaded inside.
Here, what we know about the décor at the Madison Square Garden event.
Boxes have been unloaded since Monday with labels like “Garden Party” on them, and castle-like pieces and plants have been transported.
Swift seems to be turning the arena into a castle and garden for her nuptials. CBS News shared video showcasing some of the boxes being unloaded Monday, along with their labels, which include “Garden Party”:
Page Six got video of a white castle-like rail being unloaded, which it shared on Wednesday:
Photos have also surfaced of greenery being carried into the Garden, adding more fuel to the garden party speculation:
TMZ additionally ran photos of a white staircase being built in, theorizing the piece was for the castle being built.
On July 1, Variety ran video of what appears to be a piano being wheeled in.
Deliveries to the arena continued on Wednesday, with Variety posting a video of an object resembling baby grand piano being wheeled in. It follows NBC News’ report that Swift will have multiple performances at her wedding.
A worker at Madison Square Garden wore a Taylor Swift Carpenters top.
While it was vintage gear from her Speak Now Tour, the worker said, via The New York Times, “I plead the Fifth,” when asked whether his outfit had anything to do with his current job.
A 40-inch mirror ball has also been carried in.
It seems like Swift’s wedding décor may pay homage to her music. Photos have surfaced of a forklift bringing a box labeled “40-inch mirror ball” into Madison Square Garden. Swift, of course, has a song called “mirrorball.”
She recently spoke to The New York Times about how the song reflects her experience of being an artist. “Being a person in the public eye, I’ve really begun to realize that you are a mirror,” she said. “You are a mirror for your fans, for the media, for people on the internet, for just random—just people who don’t even really care about your music, but they know who you are. However they feel about themselves and their life will be projected on how they perceive you. A public person who makes art is a mirror ball. And that’s part of why I’ve been able to keep my wits about me through all this because I know that, and I’m really kind of aware of that dynamic, but I’m still endlessly fascinated by people, by the human experience, by why people are the way they are, by the ways that they feel emotion.”
A red carpet was unloaded—only to be switched out shortly after.
Swift may have a literal red carpet at her wedding—a move that makes sense given the day’s reported black-tie dress code, extensive guest list (over 1,000 rumored invitees), and the fact that Winick Productions, which has overseen actual awards shows like the Grammys, Tonys, and Emmys, is handling the event.
Initially, video surfaced of a red carpet being laid out at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. It was then torn up, with TMZ reporting that it was being replaced with a purple carpet. The color nods to Swift’s Speak Now era and 2022 song “Lavender Haze.”
