2 min readBeauty tools and treatments have never been so innovative. From a Korean skin care tool that claims to depuff and give you glass skin in 10 minutes to a blow dryer that purports to dry curly hair in half the time, brands are making promises to take your skin and hair to the next level.
The ELLE beauty team combed through hundreds of these claims and gadgets for our third annual Tools and Treatments Awards. We asked some key questions: Can a handheld device practically replace a luxe facial appointment? Are you able to zap acne quickly with a donut-shaped microcurrent instrument? Is the in-office radiofrequency treatment that everyone is talking about worth it? We tasked 28 ELLE staff members with finding out.

Details on our methodology
December 2025–February 2026: The ELLE beauty team compiled data on new and innovative tools or treatments while taking note of the existing tools and treatments that remain gold standards.
February 2026: The ELLE beauty team asked brands to send formal submissions to our awards to be considered (we never charge for submissions).
March 2026–April 2026: We recruited 28 ELLE staffers to test hundreds of tools and in-office treatments.
April 2026–May 2026: ELLE staffers were asked to honestly evaluate tools and treatments based on criteria including efficacy, ease of use, pain, and innovation.
May 2026: ELLE staffers submitted their detailed feedback to the beauty team for review. We compiled all of the information, including exactly why our staffers liked each tool or treatment.
May 2026–June 2026: We analyzed this feedback to find 71 winners for our third annual Tools and Treatments Awards.
