The John Hardy JH Lovestruck Collection Makes a Case for Everyday Diamonds
I used to think fine jewelry was reserved for special occasions; that the bigger, bolder diamonds were meant to be paired with black-tie dresses, cocktail attire, or your bridal wardrobe. It wasn’t until I started looking at jewelry as a fashion editor—when I began to envision these particular pieces for everyday occasions (including the mundane)—that I came to the conclusion that, like any other item in your wardrobe, these pieces are meant to be loved and worn.
In my humble opinion, there’s nothing quite as chic as wearing some of your sparkliest pieces with, say, a T-shirt or button-down and jeans. And right now, my favorite pieces to do exactly that come from John Hardy’s JH Lovestruck collection.
In the time I had to incorporate the pieces into my wardrobe, the collection—John Hardy’s first to feature designs centered on lab-grown diamonds—has become a staple in my daily ensembles. Yes, the pieces are on the bolder side, but isn’t that the point? They elevate my otherwise standard outfits in mere seconds (and they garner as many compliments as any ultra-sparkly diamond would).
As someone whose fingers feel utterly naked without her rings, I opted for a more-is-more approach by layering different styles with each other. My personal favorites have been the Gold Link Necklace, which I paired with the Sterling Silver Heishi Pendant Necklace, to create a nice contrast in metals and textures.
Keeping with the mixed-metal theme, I also stacked two of the collection’s drop earrings—the Sterling Silver 1.5TCW Hoop Earrings and the Gold 6.5TCW Hoop Earrings—which turned out to be one of the most-complimented ways to style them, only proving my theory that any time is a good time for diamonds. The compliments also gave way to a conversation about lab-grown diamonds, which I’ve found not only democratize the precious stone due to their more accessible price point, but also offer a more ethical way to source diamonds. Yes, the price point on these pieces is still on the higher end, but compared to what you might find in the natural diamond market, they feel far more attainable.
Thanks to the more pebble-like shape of the stones, this collection feels both modern and timeless, without leaning too far in one direction or the other. I also feel like, because the shapes feel more organic than the traditional diamond cuts, it feels easier to wear for everyday occasions. Case in point: the Lovetruck rings. While I wore the larger, Gold 3.25TCW Diamond ring alone (a stunner in its own right), I chose to stack the two sterling silver styles, letting the more sculptural shapes nest within one another.
Whether you’re looking to invest in everyday elegance with a new diamond necklace or you’re searching for a gift for a loved one (one of the diamond rings is available for less than $900), you simply won’t go wrong with something from this line. Ahead, shop my favorite pieces from the JH Lovestruck Collection.
