Last night, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco stepped out for the Los Angeles premiere of Martin Short’s Netflix documentary, Marty, Life Is Short—and they kept the attention squarely focused on the legendary actor. Gomez posed solo on the red carpet, wearing a black Carolina Herrera gown. Blanco matched her in black and watched on the sidelines.
The night was about Gomez’s friendship with Short, whom she reunited with on the red carpet. She posted a tribute the next morning on Instagram, candidly reflecting on the friendship the pair has struck up throughout their time working on Only Murders in the Building together alongside Steve Martin.
“This man who doesn’t have social media is truly outstandingly witty, smart, and has given the most wonderful attributes to our world of comedy,” she wrote of Short. “Some may not know much that follow me. But Martin Short is nothing short of a legend. His outlook on life is simply joyful. I cried, laughed and empathized his entire story. Check it out on @netflix now please. Worth every minute. ????????️???? -thank you Marty for your inspiring and tremendous heart that makes me forever happy.”
In March, Gomez posted an Instagram Story where she wrote a brief message to Short and Martin—and stressed how much she cherishes them. “My favorite guys,” she captioned a photo of the three of them. “I’ll always be there for them as they have been for me. Love you Steve and I love you Marty.”
