Shareholders of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) have commended the management for declaring a record dividend of N12.76 per share for the 2025 financial year, the highest in Nigeria’s banking sector.
At the company’s 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM), investors praised the Group’s strong performance and compliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s N500 billion minimum capital requirement.
President of the Nigerian Shareholders’ Solidarity Association, Chief Timothy Adesiyan, said the payout reflects consistency and discipline in delivering shareholder value. Similarly, Chairman of the Pragmatic Shareholders Association of Nigeria (PSAN), Mrs. Bisi Bakare, described the dividend as historic and urged the company to sustain the momentum.
GTCO had earlier declared an interim dividend of N1.00 per share and a final dividend of N11.76, bringing the total to N12.76 for the year.
Responding, Board Chairman, Suleiman Barau, said the Group has evolved into a diversified financial services ecosystem spanning banking, payments, asset management and pensions, creating multiple streams of sustainable growth. He noted that diversification enhances resilience, reduces risk concentration and strengthens value delivery to customers.
Barau emphasised that disciplined risk management remains central to operations, stressing the importance of maintaining a strong balance sheet, prudent lending and robust internal controls amid a challenging macroeconomic environment.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Segun Agbaje, said 2025 marked a milestone in integrating the Group’s business lines, leveraging data and digital tools to deliver seamless services across Africa and the United Kingdom.
He also highlighted GTCO’s listing on the London Stock Exchange, describing it as a historic step that strengthens capital and improves liquidity for shareholders.
Looking ahead, Agbaje expressed confidence in the Group’s outlook, stating that GTCO remains resilient and well-positioned for sustained growth despite global uncertainties.
