ILORIN — The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, has extended Easter greetings to members of the university’s Christian community and Christians across the country.

In a statement issued by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor described Easter as a significant period in the Christian calendar, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Egbewole said the celebration symbolises sacrifice, faith, and the enduring values exemplified by Christ, urging believers to reflect these virtues in their daily lives.

He called on Christians, as well as adherents of other faiths, to embrace selflessness, civility, and peaceful coexistence, noting that such values are essential for societal harmony.

The Vice Chancellor also advised moderation in celebrations and encouraged acts of kindness toward the less privileged, including family members, friends, neighbours, and colleagues.

Highlighting the overlap of Ramadan and Lent this year, Egbewole said the coincidence underscores the importance of unity and shared devotion to the service of humanity.

He commended the strong spirit of interfaith harmony within the University of Ilorin community, describing it as a model worthy of emulation for national peace and cohesion.

Egbewole wished Christians within and outside the university a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration.
