On Saturday, Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live. While performing his opening monologue, it was revealed that Harry Styles was in the audience. Gosling seemed to find it pretty distracting.
“Is that … Harry Styles?” Gosling asked. “What are you doing here, man?”
“It’s been awhile, so I wanted to watch, get a feel for it,” the singer replied, referencing his scheduled hosting duties next week. Styles is currently promoting his new album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.
“So professional, that’s so awesome,” Gosling answered, before mistakenly referring to his upcoming film Project Hail Marry as “Project Harry Styles” instead. As Gosling played up his distraction and potential jealousy, the camera continuously panned to Styles sitting comfortably.
“Could you listen less cool? It’s like your coolness is becoming an issue,” Gosling eventually asked him. It also seemed like the entire cast and the camera operators were equally enamored by the British pop star, with Sarah Sherman and Mikey Day running to his side.
Gosling recently made an appearance on the March 5 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, surprising his wife, Eva Mendes, with a birthday celebration. After inviting Mendes on stage, he serenaded her with a marching band rendition of “Happy Birthday” by teenage musicians from North Bergen High School.
Mendes posted about the sweet moment on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo.
“A huuuuge gracias to @jimmyfallon and @nbhs_bruins marching band,” she wrote in the caption. “What a beautiful memory. And a special thank you to all the educators in the audience. We need you now more than ever. Lastly, my man….i’ll get you back for this. ♥️”
The couple met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011 and tend to stay out of the spotlight together. They share two children.
