Six months after their first date in Montreal, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are more than just casually dating, a source told Entertainment Tonight.
“Katy and Justin have gotten much more serious,” the insider explained. “He is supportive of her and encouraging, and she feels confident about herself with him.”
The source added that Trudeau has really won Perry over: “Justin came into Katy’s life at the perfect time. She is smitten with him.”
Perry and Trudeau were first seen together in July 2025. The singer had announced her separation from ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom weeks before. At the time, love wasn’t on her radar. As a source told People in October, “When she first hung out with Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch. They have many shared interests and a lot of talk about, but Katy was navigating too many things to even think about dating then.”
But Trudeau, who was “very respectful,” the source said, still pursued her.
Fast-forward to December, and a source told People that the former Canadian prime minister’s efforts worked. “The only reason this turned into something real is because Justin has been so persistent,” the source explained. “She wasn’t looking to date when they first hung out, and she certainly wasn’t looking for a boyfriend.”
Their love story was an “exciting surprise” to Perry, the insider added: “He’s shown her over and over again that he genuinely wants to see her. He’s flown all over the world to spend time with her while she toured. She likes spending time with him. She’s flattered that he’s made such a big effort, and she’s excited to be dating him.”
Perry hasn’t hidden her feelings for Trudeau on social media, either. The singer has shared multiple new photos with him in the new year. Her most recent post, shared on February 10, included a photo of them on a winter trip together. “♥️ let love be the revolution ♥️,” she captioned it.
