HBO’s Industry Season 4 Is the Pinnacle of Corporate Style—Here’s How to Get the Look
A lot has changed since Industry’s Harper Stern (Myha’la) and Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) first walked through Pierpoint’s sliding glass doors—and we’re not just talking about their careers in finance. Season 4 introduced a drastic shift in wardrobe as well as setting, with both leading ladies navigating newly elevated statuses. During an exclusive visit to the set of Industry season 4 last summer, ELLE senior culture editor Lauren Puckett-Pope tapped costume designer Laura K. Smith for the inside scoop on how the new slate of wardrobes came together.
For Harper, in particular, “[her] world has really changed,” Smith says. “She’s come into money in a way that she never really has before. It’s her mind and her own ability that’s brought her this new capital.” Onscreen, that “new capital” translates to custom-made suits, designer watches, and small handbags—because, Smith says, Harper can afford to have someone else carry her laptop around for her.
Meanwhile, Yasmin is upwardly mobile for an entirely different reason: She married into one of England’s oldest, wealthiest families. “With Yasmin, she’s slightly an outsider in aristocratic society because she’s not old-money in the way that [her husband] Henry is from 18th-century feudal wealth,” Smith says. As a result, we see her adopt more feminine, conservative garments to blend in with Britain’s upper echelon.
Ahead, we’re breaking down the best outfits from Industry season 4—including exact pieces worn on the show.
The Power Suit
Gone are the days of off-the-rack blazers: Harper’s wardrobe gets a serious upgrade during Industry’s season 4 premiere, in which she waltzes into work wearing a custom four-piece suit. “We’ve given [Harper] tailored suits, for the first time, that I’ve made for her,” Smith says. While the ensemble might look like a classic ’80s power suit at first glance, Harper’s unorthodox persona shines through in the details; her high-neck wrap top feels decidedly modern.
Thankfully, there’s no need to hire a tailor to achieve your own version of Harper’s coordinated look. This pinstripe wrap vest from Donna Karan feels polished on its own, but adding a blazer with exaggerated shoulders completes this corporate staple.
Equestrian Inspiration
Since joining the Muck family, Yasmin attempts to channel British aristocracy with equestrian-inspired styles: Think horsebit accessories, riding boots, and preppy polos. “She’s very conversant in the way she needs to present herself; that’s something that she’s learned throughout her life,” Smith explains. “There are times [in season 4] when she wouldn’t ordinarily dress [the way she does], but it works for her in that situation.”
Accessories are key to making Yasmin’s knit top-and-trouser combination feel elevated. A chunky belt and leather watch in shades of mahogany brown add warmth and texture. And since no Yasmin-inspired outfit is complete without a gorgeous coat, top it off with this belted pick from Madewell.
Dressed-Up Denim
As Harper’s ambitions start to unravel early in season 4—but her confidence remains—she trades in her power suits for pairs of baggy jeans. The oversized silhouette sits low on her hips, framing the garter straps on her lingerie-inspired top from Fleur du Mal. And while her Tag Heuer watch appears to be sold out, you can recreate her look with a similar (and far less spendy) style from Rag & Bone.
The Versatile Base Layer
Throughout episode 4, Yasmin relies on a single wardrobe staple: the sheer white turtleneck. First, we see her use it to make her deep V-neck sweater more office-ready; later, she pairs it with an off-white tailored suit. This Intimissimi high-neck top is an editor favorite, since it’s slim enough to layer beneath sweaters and blazers.
“I thought a lot about Jacqueline Kennedy with [Yasmin’s] look,” Smith says. “She understands how to move her image around according to the people that she’s working with.”
Pops of Personality
Even Sweetpea Golightly (Miriam Petche) gets a wardrobe upgrade this season. A former Pierpoint colleague-turned-SternTao associate in season 4, she ditches her trendy styles for more timeless pieces, like this navy trench coat and DeMellier New York tote bag. Similar to Yasmin, she uses accessories (like this printed silk scarf) to give her outfits more personality.
Meanwhile, Harper continues to embrace sleek lines and grayscale colors. Her ribbed sweater and plaid trousers feel professional yet modern, especially when paired with a claw clip updo.
Earthy Neutrals
Sticking to a color scheme, like Yasmin’s toasty earth tones, is an easy way to make outfits feel more cohesive in a corporate setting. A chocolate-brown turtleneck anchors her ensemble, and we see her layer it beneath a cranberry-colored suede coat during her wild business trip to Austria. Gold-toned jewelry, like this bracelet watch, ties the whole look together.
