Rihanna Opens Up About Her Love for A$AP Rocky at the Footwear News Achievement Awards
On Monday, Rihanna supported A$AP Rocky in London when he took home the Cultural Innovator Award at the Fashion Awards. Last night, the star joined her partner in New York City to cheer him on as he took home his second honor of the week: the Collaboration of the Year award at the 2024 Footwear News Achievement Awards.
Rihanna was affectionate with Rocky on the carpet. She wore a custom white Alaïa gown, Manolo Blahnik sandals, and accessorized with Chrome Hearts, Jacob & Co., and vintage Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.
Inside the ceremony, she was a very supportive girlfriend, showing off his Footwear News cover:
The singer spoke adoringly about Rocky to Entertainment Tonight on the event’s red carpet. “I left my kids [their sons RZA and Riot] to be here. I’m super proud of their dad,” she began. “That’s my baby daddy. He’s always influenced the fashion game. He’s always had a unique sense of style that designers have honed in on and actually used as inspiration for collection, and he’s never gotten the amount of credit that he deserves. Being here tonight, it just feels great to see him like achieve something that we always knew that he was a part of and influenced. And I’m proud to be here by his side. And it’s a big deal.”
In April, Rihanna gushed about her partner’s style during a talk with Interview magazine. “We saw fashion the same. We saw creative the same. We ended up in the same circles a lot,” she said. “And past that, when we grew up, we ended up supporting each other’s brands and products and creative all the time. I would wear his shit, he would show up to my launches.
She added, “We’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating [at the end of 2019] with a lot of caution. I just let whatever was supposed to happen, happen. It was just, ‘This is a flower. It’s either going to die or blossom. But I’m going to let it decide itself.’”
