Margot Robbie Wore a Little Black Dress With a Dramatic Pink Sash at the 2024 SAG Awards

Margot Robbie took a break from the direct Barbie references but leaned into the doll’s pink aesthetic at the Screen Actors Guild Awards tonight. The Barbie actress wore a black Schiaparelli couture dress with a dramatic pink sash. She accessorized with dangle earrings and had her hair styled down in waves.

Robbie is nominated for Best Female Actor in a Leading Role, Motion Picture. The full cast of Barbie is also up for Best Motion Picture Cast.

This is Robbie’s last major award show where she is up for an individual acting award. She was infamously snubbed in the Best Actress category at the upcoming Oscars. Still, Robbie had a very gracious take on how Barbie fared with Academy Award nominations.

“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed,” she said during a special SAG screening of Barbie in late January, via Deadline. She addressed Greta Gerwig’s best director snub specifically, saying, “obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films.”

“We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact,” she added. “And it’s already done that, and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.”

More than awards themselves, Robbie said viewers’ responses have been the most prized part of releasing Barbie. “People’s reactions to the movie have been the biggest reward of this entire experience, whether it’s having a moment like that, or whether it’s listening in the bathrooms, or whether it’s seeing what people are writing online, or even just seeing how much pink I can see in this room right now,” she explained.

She added that “I’ve never been a part of something like this. Not like this. I’ve done comic book stuff and that gets a big reaction, but this felt very different. It still feels very different. And I can’t think of a time when a movie’s had this effect on culture. And it’s amazing to be in the eye of the storm.”
