ELLE and Bloomingdale’s Gathered to Toast Naomi Campbell’s Boss Collection

Naomi Campbell contributes more to fashion than modeling; she’s a designer, too. The iconic super teamed up with Boss to launch an exclusive capsule built for the modern woman. Naomi x BOSS was given a fitting celebration last night with a pop-up at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street in Midtown Manhattan, co-hosted by ELLE, with passed champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a DJ.

“I wanted to make things that were comfortable—wearable things that also help your body,” Campbell recently told ELLE of the collab. “It’s chic and easy. Elegant. A very simple collection, but with very good quality.” And it was made with travelers in mind, as the model certainly knows a thing or two about life on the go. With such a legendary career comes a fast-paced and demanding schedule, so it was actually Campbell’s idea to design items that are both packable and wearable. As such, the collection reflects her own wants and likes—including anti-crease fabrics to eliminate those pesky suitcase wrinkles. As ELLE digital director Claire Stern shared at the event, Campbell (like her!) is also a known germaphobe, so there are antimicrobial elements to the pieces as well.

The 39-piece capsule features contemporary cuts combined with Boss’ signature tailoring. Think: versatile, water-resistant outerwear, bold catsuits, and even a perfectly sized handbag. And the clothes feel as luxe as they look, thanks in large part to the use of cashmere and jersey. Also included are suits that can be mix and matched, timeless leather mules, comfy sweatsuits, a graphic top featuring Campbell’s own face, and a knit sweater (my personal favorite), all tied together in a neutral palette of almond, black, and white, with occasional purple accents.

True to Campbell’s philanthropic efforts, the campaign will also benefit a variety of charities in U.S., U.K., and German markets respectively. Through Sunday, February 25, 20 percent of revenue from U.S. sales will be donated ICON360, a nonprofit that uplifts Black designers and provides resources for fashion departments at HBCUs.
