Tom Holland Leans Into His Best Role, Zendaya’s Supportive Boyfriend, on Instagram

Zendaya is promoting two films at the moment, Dune: Part Two and Challengers. For Dune, she and Timothée Chalamet twinned in leather jumpsuits in Seoul, South Korea today. For Challengers, the actress posted the steamy film’s second trailer this morning, featuring her femme fatale character in a love triangle with two tennis players. Her boyfriend, Tom Holland, made his thoughts on that project known shortly after.

The actor gave her a very public display of support, following him and Zendaya being photographed showing PDA in London last week. He posted the Challengers trailer and tagged her in his Instagram Story, writing, “You ain’t ready for this one!”

Holland clarified breakup rumors in January after Zendaya unfollowed everyone, including him, on Instagram as her Challengers promotion began. He told a TMZ reporter on January 12 that he and Zendaya are “absolutely not” split up in a video shared by the outlet.

Zendaya spoke to ELLE in the summer about Challengers and playing a more seductive character. “I felt like it was a good step into a more, I guess you could say, ‘grown-up’ role and into that next phase,” she said. “It was a little scary to take on, which I think is a good feeling. To be like, ‘Ooh, can I do this?’ You could run from that feeling and stay safe and comfortable, or you can go, ‘You know what, fuck it.’”

She also addressed her relationship with Holland and whether the public’s support of them makes the fan interest easier to accept. “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” she admitted. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
