Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Greatest Love Story Never Told’ Lyrics Are a Risqué Message to Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez’s new album, This Is Me…Now, and corresponding musical film are inspired by Ben Affleck in many ways; throughout both projects, J.Lo looks back on her love life, as well as the the mistakes and challenges she faced along the way to her happy ending with her now-husband.

On the track “Greatest Love Story Never Told,” Affleck’s imprint is especially significant. The title takes its name from a collection of letters the actor had written to Lopez through the years. The letters were private, but Lopez unearthed them with her collaborators while searching for inspiration for this album, according to Variety. Part of that process appears in Lopez’s upcoming documentary of the same name (which debuts on Prime Video on February 27).

In the footage, Affleck is at first surprised that the letters are made public. “I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told. If you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it,” he says, per Variety.

The resulting song is a clear tribute to Affleck, their decades-long love story, and their long-awaited reunion. She sings in the chorus: “20 years ago, feels like time has froze / We’re living in the greatest love story ever told / We never let it go and never told a soul / We could have been / The greatest love story never told.”

Do be warned, though, there are some risqué bedroom references in the beginning, with J.Lo saying, “Missing your body / Climbing on top of me” and… well, we’ll let her say it herself.
