Selena Gomez and Emily Blunt Poke Fun at the Golden Globes’ Lip Reading Drama

On Friday night, Selena Gomez and Emily Blunt met again at the AFI Awards in Los Angeles. They were both at the same event last weekend, as well, attending the Golden Globes. There, a video of Gomez talking to Taylor Swift went viral as alleged lip readers rushed to figure out what the friends were discussing. In another video, fans thought Blunt was talking to husband John Krasinski about divorce.

Blunt and Gomez paid cheeky homage to the online gossip by posing inside the Four Seasons Hotel with their hands in front of their mouths for the camera. Gomez later shared the shot to her Instagram Stories, writing, “We shall not speak lol.”

In the clip from the Golden Globes with Gomez and Swift, the “Single Soon” singer is leaning over her Eras Tour star friend and seems to be relaying some juicy information, which was strongly reacted to by Swift and their pal Keleigh Sperry. Some viewers alleged she was discussing Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, who were also at the event and also subjected to the lip reading treatment. Celebrities at awards shows are often surrounded by cameras, and they have become more conscious of the lip reading trend, so there may be more mouth covering in future.

A source told US Weekly on Thursday that whatever Blunt and Krasinski were caught chatting about, it is not marriage troubles.

“There are no issues with Emily and John,” said the source. “They are absolutely not talking about divorce…They think the rumors are funny and ridiculous.”

A lip-reading expert named Jeremy Freeman told Page Six that Gomez was saying she was denied a photo.

“He didn’t want a picture with me. He said no,” Freeman claims Gomez says in the video. Fans thought that she was referring to Chalamat and that Jenner had blocked the photo op.

But Gomez denied it.

“I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up,” she commented on an E! News post. “Not that that’s anyone business.”
