Meghan Markle Reveals the One Gift Archie Wants—But Isn’t Getting—for Christmas

This year, there’s one item on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie’s wish list that he won’t be getting this Christmas—and understandably so: a Leica camera, which is handcrafted and costs thousands of dollars.

Meghan spoke with director and photographer Misan Harriman, who is a friend of hers and has photographed her family before, and touched on his influence on Archie during a November Q&A.

Harriman is the director of Netflix’s short film The After. Meghan participated in a discussion with him and the film’s star David Oyelowo on November 15 at a private residence in Montecito, California.

Regarding Harriman’s impact on Archie specifically, Meghan said, “The inspiration runs deep. Our 4-year-old,” she then stopped and corrected herself, “4-and-a-half-year-old son—he would say, ‘No, I’m not 4. I’m 4-and-a-half’—Misan was showing him how to do photography the last time he was with us, and I bought Archie a camera, and he said, ‘But it’s not a Leica like Misan,’ I said, ‘You are not getting a Leica! Not even for Christmas.’ So thank you for the inspiration across the board,” she told Harriman.

Meghan and Harry released their holiday card last week, choosing not to release a new photo of their children Archie and Lilibet. They instead used a public photo of them taken at the 2023 Invictus Games.

Meghan has kept a largely low profile this year. She did address renewed interest in her own past project, Suits, during a rare red carpet interview with Variety on November 16.

She said she had “no idea” what caused the show to perform so well on streaming, then offered this theory: “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit. But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting.”
