Selena Gomez Didn’t Make It to Taylor Swift’s 34th Birthday Party, But She Shared a Tribute to Her Anyway

Selena Gomez wasn’t photographed with the group of celebrities that attended Taylor Swift’s 34th birthday celebration in New York City, but Swift was still in her heart that night. Gomez posted an Instagram tribute to Swift, featuring a selfie of them from the weekend. Swift kissed Gomez’s cheek in it. “Happy birthday to the goddess that is @taylorswift,” Gomez wrote. “I love you.”

ICYMI, Gomez and Swift went out the night before Swift’s birthday, first going to Parcelle Wine Bar on the Lower East Side before meeting up with Miles Teller and Keleigh Sperry for dinner at Zero Bond. Gomez and Swift matched in black outfits, with Swift accenting her tan trench with matching accessories.

Gomez and Swift have been friends since 2008. In January 2020, Gomez told WSJ magazine of their relationship, “There’s so much of my friendship with Taylor that people don’t know about because we don’t necessarily feel the need to post about everything we do. She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected. Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything.”

Swift echoed Gomez’s remarks in a separate interview for same story: “There has always been this quality of sisterhood, and I don’t say that in a basic way,” Swift started. “I knew from when I met her, I would always have her back. In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don’t know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.”
