Why Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello Reportedly ‘Broke Up’ Again

The flames of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s surprise romantic rekindling have gone out. A source told Entertainment Tonight that the former couple, who started seeing each other again after kissing at Coachella in April, ended things.

“Shawn and Camila broke up and are no longer seeing each other,” the source said. “They gave things a try, but ultimately the timing isn’t right for either of them. They’re both staying busy and doing their own things.”

People reported on June 13 that Cabello was dating other people, pointing out that her and Mendes’ romantic reconciliation seemed to have ended. Neither Mendes, Cabello, nor their reps confirmed or addressed the breakup.

The Sun was the first outlet to spark rumors that Cabello and Mendes split once more. A source told the British outlet on June 7, “Shawn and Camila have a lot of history, and they tested the waters again after coming back into each other’s lives. But it was just a fling and they’ve put an end to it now. They realized it was probably a mistake to give things another shot. Things ended between them the first time for a reason, after all. In reality, both of them know they aren’t right for each other romantically and now they just want to move on.”

Cabello and Mendes were last photographed together on May 25, 2023.

They first broke up in November 2021 after dating for two years. They said in a joint statement posted on their Instagram Stories then, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends…We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
