Billie Eilish’s Rep Confirms She and Jesse Rutherford Have Broken Up
Billie Eilish is single again, just in time for the summer. The 21-year-old singer’s rep told Page Six that after months of dating 31-year-old artist Jesse Rutherford, the pair decided to break up. “We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends,” the rep said. The rep also shut down any speculation that there was cheating involved in the split.
Rutherford and Eilish were most recently seen at Coachella. She included Rutherford in her gallery of Easter photos, too.
Eilish revealed she and Rutherford were dating in October when she told Vanity Fair about her relationship status in her yearly interview video with the magazine. They were photographed kissing that month before the interview (and first public comments about him) were released.
“Yeah, I do [have a boyfriend now],” she told Vanity Fair. “And it’s really cool, and I’m really excited, and I’m really happy about it. I managed to get my way to a point in my life where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f*cking f*cker alive, but pulled his ass. Are you kidding me? Can we just—round of applause for me? Thank you. Jesse Rutherford, everyone! I pulled his ass—all me! I did that shit. I locked that motherf*cker down.”
Eilish divulged more details about their relationship when discussing her preferred love language. “My whatever they say—love language—is just physical touch,” she began. “I just need to be touching skin all the time. Touching and cuddling and hugging and anything skin-related is really a big thing for me. And other than that, just like, freedom. You know, I don’t wanna be controlled. I wanna be trusted, and I wanna be able to have space, and I want love and attention, and equal admiration is really important. I just am really inspired by this person [Rutherford], and you know, he’s inspired by me. It’s really cool.”
Fans were initially concerned about the 10-year age gap. Eilish and Rutherford made light of the criticism when they dressed as a baby (Eilish) and old man (Rutherford) for Halloween.
Eilish and Rutherford also attended industry events as a couple, including the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party. Neither has commented on their own social media about the split yet.
