Prince Louis Smiles in a Wheelbarrow in His New 5th Birthday Portraits

Prince Louis looks so happy and carefree in his new birthday portraits.

Buckingham Palace shared two adorable new images ahead of the prince’s fifth birthday tomorrow. For this year’s portraits, Louis was photographed earlier this month in Windsor while spending time with his mother, Kate Middleton. While it has become tradition for Kate to capture her children’s birthday photos, the new photographs were instead taken by Millie Pilkington, as the mother was busy pushing her youngest son along as he sat in a wheelbarrow.

In the photos, Louis is dressed a cozy blue sweater with a red and beige argyle decoration, worn over a blue checkered collar shirt and blue shorts. Kate, who’s shown slightly out of focus, wears a white-and-black striped sweater.

Last year, for Louis’s fourth birthday portraits, the young royal was photographed by his mother while playing on a beach. The toddler looked so much like his father, Prince William, while wearing a collared shirt under a gray sweater and teal shorts while playing on a beach.

Yesterday, the royal family commemorated what would have been the late Queen Elizabeth’s 97th birthday with the release of an intimate new portrait shot by Princess Kate. The photograph, which was taken at Balmoral Castle last summer, shows the late monarch surrounded by some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Louis and his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Lady Louise Windsor, James, Early of Wessex, Savannah Phillips, Isla Phillips, Lena Tindall, Mia Tindall, and Lucas Philip Tindall also appeared in the photo.
